For their 2013 Season Opener, The New York Shock Exchange All-Stars battle the Montreal Mont Royales at a Roller Derby Double Header at the Yonkers P.A.L. building on Saturday, April 6th. Suburbia Roller Derby will be hosting and taking on Maine Roller Derby. Tickets are available here.
In one week the New York Shock Exchange kicks off the Shock the UK tour with the very first intercontinental men’s roller derby bout in history! Representing North America will be your New York Shock Exchange from the good ol’ US of A and representing Europe will be Manchester’s New Wheeled Order from merry ole England. The game will be broadcast on rduk.tv at approximately 12pm EST (5pm GMT).
Your favorite Shockers take 3rd! Storming back from an early 18-84 deficit, the Shock Exchange overcame the Magic City City Misfits 199-157 to take 3rd place at the 2012 MRDA Championship Tournament, the Gateway to the Best, in St. Louis.
On the first day of the tournament the Shockers bested Portland Men’s Roller Derby 226-103 in their quarterfinal game. On the second day, New York fell in the semifinals to the hometown St. Louis GateKeepers 199-167. Vowing to bring home some “hardware,” the Shock Exchange skated their hearts out against Magic City. Their 3rd place makes them the only team that placed in both the 2012 and 2011 MRDA Championship. Abe Drinkin (#47) earned the tournament blocker MVP award. Jonathan R (#6) scored more points (236) than any other jammer.
Next for the Shock Exchange is the very first intercontinental men’s roller derby bout! As part of their groundbreaking “Shock the UK” tour, they take on the Manchester New Wheeled Order in England on Saturday, Nov. 17th.
The New York Shock Exchange skated to victory at the inaugural Mohawk Valley Cup Tournament this past weekend! They overcame Vermont’s Mean Mountain Boys (537-22) in the opening round, the Connecticut Death Quads (399-66) in the semifinals, and the Mass Maelstrom (281-52) in the championship game.
